This two-day training provides participants with information and an opportunity to enhance skills in conducting a behavioral risk assessment within a harm reduction framework. This includes the goals, process, and core components of a behavioral risk assessment; an introduction to a brief behavioral and health risk assessment tool; how to develop risk reduction plans; and a demonstration of the active referral process for HIV, STIs, hepatitis, substance abuse, and mental health.

This training requires that the pre-requisite Fundamentals of HIV, STIs, and Hepatitis be complete. It must be taken second. It is the pre-requisite for Counseling and Testing, Positive Prevention, andField Work.

This is part of the series of previously mandated trainings that meet the requirements for the Massachusetts Department of Public Health.
